You’ll feel exceptionally light, buoyant strokes while the smooth back face gives a quiet entrance and exit from the water. The Kalliste is the smart choice for those touring with a low-angle style of paddling and wanting the conservative yet powerful feel of a mid-sized blade.

Low Angle is the most popular as it is more universal, primarily being more relaxed, but still allowing folks to paddle at a higher performance. Low Angle designs have longer and narrower blades designed match this lower entry angle to the water with the perfect use of the blades surface area. The true benefit to low-angle is for those less likely to work on developing their forward stroke skills, and want to take the sport at a more casual, recreational level, the lower hand position (focus on keeping your top hand at shoulder height throughout the stroke) of this style puts significantly less wear on the smaller support muscles like shoulders, traps, biceps and triceps. Good technique can be developed and used with a low angle style, and is the choice for many who just prefer this body position and the ability to switch back and forth. Werner's low angle designs have substantially more dihedral, to keep the blade stable as it travels further from the side of the boat.
"This stuff is tough!" To protect the specialized designs of Ultimate blades, Dynel brings an extremely abrasion and impact resistant edge. Proven on the water since 2002, this material gives added confidence to paddlers buying paddles. Available on Werner's Ultimate paddles, this composite rope material disperses impact to protect the blade during a hard impact. It also greatly slows the wear process with its abrasion resistant properties. Key to protecting your investment if you come in contact with rocks or reef often in your paddling.

Low angle paddles feature blades which are long and narrow and meant to be inserted into the water closer to parallel with the surface of the water. If your top hand stays around shoulder height you are utilizing a low angle technique. This style of paddling is very efficient and commonly used for more recreational paddling or when covering long distances and will benefit from conserving energy and reduced fatigue.
Straight shaft kayak paddles are the most common choice among paddlers and are ideal for those that like a traditional, simple feel. Straight paddles will save weight and cost while allowing for more variety in hand position.
