The Wilderness Systems Tempest 170 Pro is a high-performance expedition sea kayak featuring lightweight composite (fiberglass) construction instead of standard plastic. Ideal for paddlers 150 to 235 lbs, this 17-foot, narrow-beam craft delivers exceptional speed, outstanding secondary stability, and three dry hatches for overnight touring.

Material: Composite ("Pro") layup significantly reduces the base weight to around 50–52 lbs compared to the 57+ lb rotomolded plastic models.
Design & Handling: A shallow-V hull and soft chines provide an incredibly smooth, efficient cruising speed with high secondary stability, making it highly capable in rough water, wind, and dynamic conditions.
Outfitting: Equipped with the award-winning Phase 3® AirPro XP seating system, which includes a highly adjustable backband, leg lifter, and breathable 3D foam. It also features the TruTrak adjustable skeg system to improve tracking in varying currents.
