- Participants must be comfortable performing a wet exit and re-entering their kayak with assistance or independently.
Physical Requirements

Weather & Environmental Hazards
- Coastal environments are dynamic. Be prepared for sun, wind, rain, waves, and cold air/water temps.
- Bring layered, non-cotton clothing and sufficient hydration and nutrition for each day.
- Be alert for signs of hypothermia, dehydration, or fatigue—and communicate with your instructors if you feel unwell or unsafe at any time.
Safety Culture
- This course emphasizes good judgment, teamwork, and proactive communication. You’re encouraged to speak up, ask questions, and support fellow paddlers.
