Restrictions

This activity is not suitable for pregnant individuals, riders with impaired mobility, or anyone with medical conditions that may be aggravated by physical activity. Riders are recommended to meet minimum height requirements for proper bike fit: 5'2" (157 cm) or taller is recommended for the Kona Remote. Participants must be able to balance, pedal, and control an electric mountain bike on varied terrain, including gravel, roots, and hills. This rental is best for individuals who are comfortable with moderate physical exertion and confident riding on mixed surfaces.

Health & Safety

Riders must be in good physical condition and capable of balancing, pedaling, and controlling an electric mountain bike on mixed terrain. The Kona Remote provides pedal-assist power, but riders should expect moderate physical exertion, especially on hills and uneven trails. This activity is not recommended for individuals with heart conditions, recent injuries, or health concerns that may be aggravated by physical activity.

A properly fitted helmet (included with your rental) must be worn at all times. Riders should follow all posted trail signs, yield guidelines, and local e-bike regulations. Use caution on wet surfaces, steep descents, loose gravel, and tight turns, as the added weight and speed of an e-bike require increased stopping distance and control.

Pregnant individuals or anyone with impaired mobility should consult a medical professional before participating. If at any point during your ride you feel unwell, fatigued, or uncomfortable with trail conditions, discontinue riding and return to the shop.

Disclaimers

Trail conditions, weather, and unexpected closures are outside of our control and may affect your ride. Riders are responsible for safely operating the bike and navigating the trail system. Mechanical issues caused by improper use, crashes, or riding outside recommended terrain are not covered by the rental. Cell service may be limited in some areas, and riders should be prepared to return to the shop if conditions become unsafe or if they feel unable to continue.

FAQs

Q: Do I need prior mountain biking experience?
A: Basic biking skills are required. You should feel comfortable balancing, braking, and riding on mixed terrain. The pedal-assist makes climbing easier, but riders still need to control the bike safely.

Q: How long does the battery last?
A: Battery life depends on rider weight, terrain, and assist level, but for hourly rentals on the Port Gamble trails, the battery provides more than enough range for your full session.

Q: Can I ride on any trail I want?
A: You may ride on approved multi-use trails within the Port Gamble Forest Heritage Park. Please follow all posted signs and avoid trails marked as off-limits or hiking-only.

Q: Is the helmet included?
A: Yes. A properly fitted helmet is included and must be worn at all times during your ride.

Q: Can I bring my own pedals or saddle?
A: Yes. We can install your personal pedals or saddle during check-in if you prefer.

Q: What happens if the weather is bad?
A: Rentals operate rain or shine, but riders should use caution in wet or slippery conditions. If extreme weather occurs, we may delay or pause rentals for safety.

Q: What should I bring?
A: Water, closed-toe shoes, weather-appropriate layers, and a charged phone. Gloves are recommended for comfort.

Q: Is this activity suitable for kids?
A: No. Kona Remote rentals are for adult riders only and require a minimum recommended height of 5'2".

Q: Do you offer shuttle service?
A: Shuttle support is available only by advance phone request and is not guaranteed.

Q: What if something goes wrong with the bike?
