Marketing & Event Coordinator (Seasonal)

Olympic Outdoor Center is seeking an experienced, organized Marketing & Event Coordinator to lead marketing execution and event coordination during our 40th Anniversary year (1986–2026) and support ongoing programs, tours, classes, rentals, and community events.

This role blends marketing, communications, and event coordination. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, and comfortable working across departments to turn plans into clear messaging, smooth events, and consistent customer-facing experiences.

This is a hands-on role with long-term potential beyond the anniversary year.

Job Description

  • Status: Part-Time to start, with growth potential
  • Hours: Flexible; increased hours during peak season and event weeks
  • Location: Hybrid (on-site in Port Gamble + some remote work)
  • Compensation: Competitive, based on experience

Key Responsibilities

Marketing & Communications

  • Execute marketing plans for programs, tours, rentals, and seasonal campaigns
  • Support major initiatives including the 40th Anniversary and merchandise launches
  • Write and schedule: Email campaigns, Website and landing page content, Social media posts (FB + IG primarily)
  • Maintain consistent brand tone: confident, welcoming, authentic, and grounded

Event Coordination

  • Coordinate logistics and promotion for: 40th Anniversary events, Community events, Ride the Tide, Demo days and special programs activities
  • Work closely with operations leadership to confirm: Dates and staffing needs, Customer communication, Signage and event flow
  • Support on-site execution as needed

40th Anniversary Focus

  • Apply the 40-Year Anniversary badge correctly across marketing and events
  • Support storytelling initiatives such as “40 Stories for 40 Years”
  • Ensure anniversary messaging is consistent across digital and front-of-house touchpoints
  • Keep anniversary efforts organized, on schedule, and aligned with operations

Digital & Platform Support

  • Update and maintain key platforms, including: Shopify collections, Website anniversary pages, FareHarbor descriptions and event pages (as needed)
  • Track basic performance indicators (email engagement, website traffic, event response)
  • Support ongoing content refinement and optimization

Coordination & Collaboration

  • Work closely with: Owner / leadership, Shop manager and front-of-house staff, Operations manager and program leads
  • Translate operational plans into clear customer-facing communication
  • Align marketing timelines with program and event schedules

Qualifications

Required

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience coordinating campaigns, projects, or events
  • Ability to manage multiple timelines and priorities
  • Highly organized with strong follow-through
  • Comfortable working independently within a small team

Preferred

  • Experience in outdoor recreation, tourism, or community events
  • Familiarity with Shopify, CMS platforms, and booking systems
  • Experience with email marketing and social scheduling tools
  • Photography, light design, or content creation skills (bonus)
