The Werner Surge delivers confidence in every stroke with a powerful, dependable catch in a high impact resistant fiberglass layup with an increased blade to shaft offset for more verticality through the power phase. Read More
Tested by some of the best expedition kayakers in the world on some of the most demanding rivers the Werner Surge delivers confidence with every stroke. Like its little sibling, the Strike, the Surge is built with a higher blade to shaft offset to keep the paddle blade vertical for longer during the stoke. A vertical blade translates to more power and efficiency. The Surge has a larger area which allows strong, well conditioned paddlers, to really crank and get the most power out of each stroke. This design ensures you get the most power out of the 'catch' phase of the stroke which translates to more effective paddling. Learn more about Choosing a Whitewater Paddle.
Straight shaft kayak paddles are the most common choice among paddlers and are ideal for those that like a traditional, simple feel. Straight paddles will save weight and cost while allowing for more variety in hand position.

With an increased blade to shaft offset, this blade forward design gives a more powerful catch and more verticality through the power phase. This design offers stroke versatility for everyday use.
Paddles with a river running blade shape will have a more pronounced tip and larger portion of the surface area above the center line of the blade. This allows for an earlier more powerful catch providing a more powerful forward stroke, making them ideal for river running, creeking or coastal rock gardening.
