The Werner Sherpa Fiberglass Whitewater Kayak Paddle is an exceptionally smooth and responsive river running design. The blades are evenly balanced creating a clean bite on the water that is powerful and smooth from catch to release. The Sherpa excels in strength and is rightfully known as bomber!
The Sherpa's blades are mid size, but give you a little more low angle power than the Werner Player. The Straight Shaft cuts down on the weight and price of the paddle and gives it a more traditional feel. This paddle is great for people interested in river running or creekboating, but want to get out a rip it up at there local playspot too!

RIVER RUNNING
With a more pronounced tip and more surface area above the center of the blade, this design is optimized for a better forward stroke. So for the core elements of river running, pulling yourself through or over holes and drops, breaking in and out of current and ferrying across current, these blades are your best choice. The best white water boaters in the world believe in our designs. Werner's white water designs have a slight dihedral for smooth vertical maneuvering strokes. Note we also flatten the back face spine to aid in these strokes.

Straight Shaft
Straight shaft kayak paddles are the most common choice among paddlers and are ideal for those that like a traditional, simple feel. Straight paddles will save weight and cost while allowing for more variety in hand position.
River Running
Paddles with a river running blade shape will have a more pronounced tip and larger portion of the surface area above the center line of the blade. This allows for an earlier more powerful catch providing a more powerful forward stroke, making them ideal for river running, creeking or coastal rock gardening.
