Classes and Clinics |
 | Whether you want to learn or improve your paddle strokes, practice capsize recovery in cold water, or have an experienced instructor take your teenagers out for a fun afternoon excursion, we can put together the perfect lesson package for you.

|  | Want to try kayaking but not sure where to start? This is your chance to experience kayaking under the supervision of an experienced instructor. We'll learn basic kayak safety, paddle strokes, how to fit a kayak and much more.
Meet at the Poulsbo Kayak Rental Dock next to the Poulsbo Marine Science Center.
For beginning kayakers who want to eventually venture out on your own, see the Sea Kayak 1-2-3 Series. When: Every Saturday, June-September CALENDAR

|  | This class is a must for all kayakers. No paddler’s skills are complete without knowledge of proper safety equipment and deep water recovery. In the comfort of a warm pool, learn solo and two-person rescues, sling rescues, wet exit, equipment selection and on-water safety. The Eskimo Roll is not included in this class.
This is the most important skill you can learn as a kayaker and it is a prerequisite for all off-site rentals. You will not only be more safe on the water after this class, you will be much more confident.

|  | Before heading out on a kayak trip, make sure you have the skills and knowledge from this class. Topics include kayak design & construction, clothing, efficient paddle strokes, chart reading, waterway rules, water safety & more.
This class is perfect for kayakers wanting to venture into the protected waters of Puget Sound & beyond.

|  | A reliable roll provides sea kayakers with peace of mind and is essential for whitewater paddlers. Learn the C-to-C and Sweep rolls from a proficient, patient instructor. Most students roll by the end of the first class with paddle aids, but proficiency takes practice! It may take from one to three classes to develop a roll and longer to have a consistent, reliable roll.
Kayaks and safety equipment are provided. We use whitewater kayaks for ease of learning. Prerequisite: Capsize Recovery or equivalent.
When: Second Wednesday of every month, February-November CALENDAR

Cost per person: $99 first class, $50 each class thereafter

|  | Before heading out on a trip where you may encounter rough water, learn these essential skills: capsize prevention strokes (sculling and bracing), capsizing in cold water, how to paddle in challenging conditions, appropriate drysuit choices, tides, currents and more.

| Learn all you need to know to get out there and hang ten! We'll spend a little time in our store learning about board and paddle length, design, materials and such before we head to the beach to learn strokes and technique.
If you aren't already, you'll be hooked on standup paddleboarding after this class! When: 4-6:00 pm CALENDAR
